HarrisburgHacks is a mini-hackathon for middle school and high school students
Harrisburg Hacks is a fun mini-hack for middle school and high school students. Create a project, either hardware or sortware, and submit it for judging. A free T-shirt for all participants. You do not need to have any experience in coding. Lunch will be provided.
Please bring a laptop and charger, and any other hardware you need for your hack. If possible, bring a water bottle.
Tentative schedule:
- 8:30 - Registration opens
- 9:00 - Welcome and team forming
- 9:30 - Seminar: Make your first game in Scratch
- 9:30 - 11:00 Hands-on: soldering table
- 11:00 - Seminar: Thunkable - Build your first phone app
- 12:00 - Lunch
- 1:00 - Seminar: Website coding 101
- 2:00 - 4:00 Hands-on: robot table
- 2:00 - 4:00 Get help with submitting hacks to Devpost
- 3:00 - Seminar: Building apps for fun and profit
- 4:00 - 5:00 Presentations and awards

Eligibility
HarrisburgHacks is open to any student who has finished (or is about to finish) 5th grade thru 12th grade.
Mentors are any tech savvy adult over the age of 18.
Requirements
All teams will submit their project on Devpost and do a live presentation of their project between 4:00 and 5:00 at the hackathon.
All prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. For example, if there is a best game prize, and no one enters a game, that prize will not be awarded.
How to enter
Every participant must register at https://harrisburghacks.devpost.com/
Students should register with their own name, email and password. If they do not know their devpost account info, they will not be able to submit a project.
All teams will submit their project on Devpost and do a live presentation of their project between 4:00 and 5:00 at the hackathon.
Parents must fill out a release form for each child.
